About us

Who we are

At Old Town Business and Tax Service LLC, we are skilled professionals who specialize in individual tax preparation, handling a large variety of  return types from the simple to very complex.  We are particularly expert in preparing returns for clients with investment income and/or rentals as well as self-employed business owners of sole proprietorships or single member LLCs. With clients located throughout the United States, we are familiar with the forms and filing requirements of many states and frequently prepare multi-state tax returns.

Since 1986, Old Town Business and Tax Service (formerly Grant and Associates LLC) has been known for excellent customer service as well as accurate and thorough tax preparation. We give efficient, focused attention to each client we see and each return we prepare.  That is why each year over 800 clients – most of them repeats – have their returns prepared here.

Call for a tax preparation appointment – 517-484-8228. Our tax professionals are available year round.  Beginning Monday, January 8, 2024, we are open full time during the tax filing season.  If you would like to talk to us, call anytime.  If we are not immediately available, we will return your call promptly.

Each year she earns her AFSP (Annual Filing Season Program) certificate of completion from the IRS. Gail also keeps up her Quickbooks Pro certification to assist with small business bookkeeping/payroll needs.

Vickie Black, EA

Vickie has over 25 years of extensive tax and business knowledge. She is an Enrolled Agent well versed in advanced tax curriculum.  Vickie is also an active member in the National Association of Tax Professionals – Michigan chapter.

National Association of Tax Professionals

All tax professionals at Old Town Business and Tax Service attend courses annually through their professional organization, the National Association of Tax Professionals. Their annual continuing professional education hours are far in excess of the basic number required for Enrolled Agent status and the new tax professional licensing requirements. With the many changes that occur in tax law each year, they consider the hours of study and review a necessity for keeping up the field of taxation.

What is an EA?

An Enrolled Agent (or EA) is a federally authorized tax practitioner empowered by the U.S. Department of Treasury to represent taxpayers before the IRS.

Enrolled Agent status is the highest credential awarded by the IRS. To earn this status, one must adhere to ethical standards and complete 72 hours of continuing education courses every three years.

EA’s have unlimited practice rights (like CPAs) and they are authorized to practice in every state.
